When things get tough for me, I turn to these amazing people for inspiration. These are the people whose words flood my Facebook feed and help me be the best I can be – even in the toughest of times. To say they have simply helped me through the past 3 years would be an understatement.
So, here they are…
Danielle LaPorte
Well, there’s no surprise there! As a Desire Map devotee and Facilitator and product of her work, Danielle is top of my list when it comes to a quick pick-me-up as well as life-changing advice. Her three books have helped me completely change my life and given me the permission I needed to become the person I always knew I was.
I have my own Truthbomb decks and one of these cards always makes it onto my Altar, as well as being the ‘posterchild’ for my Musings here on the blog. You can access her amazing #Truthbombs both electronically and purchase via her website.
“Can you remember who you were, before the world told you who you should be?”- Danielle LaPorte
Dr Steve Maraboli
This bloke is like a breath of fresh air and a true champion of women, amazing relationships and not settling for second best – ever. His quotations are prolific and you can find them all over social media. He is a truly gifted motivational speaker, author and behavioural scientist and watching one of his clips is a sure-fire way of lifting me out of any lull I am having.
He was named “The Most Quoted Man Alive” by Inc. Magazine in 2016 and his words have been shared in over 25 different languages. As he pops up on my Facebook feed every day I can see why!
“Stop trying to ‘fix’ yourself; you’re NOT broken! You are perfectly imperfect and powerful beyond measure.” – Steve Mariboli
Marie Forleo
My B-School hostess, Marie just has to be on my list too. Her motto is “everything is figureoutable” and she is living proof that you can do just that. Not only is Marie TV my must watch for Q&A Tuesday but her website is full of great free content too.
Marie is more about creating a life and business you love, so some of her topics may not resonate if you’re not a solopreneur or run your own biz. But don’t discount her wisdom – she’s amazing!
“Stay on your game and keep going for your dreams. The world needs that special gift that only you have.” – Marie Forleo
Oriah Mountain Dreamer
The author of my favourite poem, “The Invitation”, Oriah often posts her thoughts on Facebook. I keep my copy of The Invitation book close at hand and find that reading it along with the words she shares about it can be a great release – and something not online for a change!
It’s also something I read out to new students when they attend my courses and workshops and I’ve even blogged about it here.
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.” – Oriah Mountain Dreamer
Brené Brown
A research professor in the USA, Brené studies courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy and her writing gives me the courage to stand up for what I believe in and do things my own way in a society that ‘expects’ me to conform to the status quo.
“It takes courage to say yes to rest and play in a culture where exhaustion is seen as a status symbol.” – Brené Brown
Kim Quance
Last, but by no means least, on my list is my very own spiritual teacher. Kim has been with me through some of the darkest days and has taught me more than I could ever imagine about energy, crystals, Reiki and living a life that has meaning and purpose.
If you’re looking for a teacher, Kim now concentrates on Reiki and Energy Field Healing and you can find her at her website or on Facebook.
