Last October I ran a challenge over on Facebook.

The rules were very simple:

  1. Join my Facebook group
  2. Meditate every day for a month

The aims of the challenge were:

  1. To dispel the myth that meditation requires you to spend hours on end thinking of nothing
  2. To show that creating a daily meditation habit has some amazing benefits.


The benefits of meditation include:

  • Fighting depression
  • Reducing anxiety & stress
  • Improving creativity and free thinking
  • Increasing positivity and happiness
  • Cultivating compassion and kindness

In fact, studies have shown that meditation not only has emotional and psychological benefits, but also physical ones, as this great article on Forbes discusses. Meditation also doesn’t have to take hours a day (although building up the time you spend does have a greater benefit) and can be done in short sessions of 5-10 minutes per day within your current daily routine. Here are 5 Ways to meditate if you don’t think you have time.

I was joined by clients, colleagues, family, friends and other Facebook users – all keen to find out what meditation was about and to include it in their daily lives. Here’s what some of them had to say about the experience:
