Last October I ran a challenge over on Facebook.
The rules were very simple:
- Join my Facebook group
- Meditate every day for a month
The aims of the challenge were:
- To dispel the myth that meditation requires you to spend hours on end thinking of nothing
- To show that creating a daily meditation habit has some amazing benefits.
The benefits of meditation include:
- Fighting depression
- Reducing anxiety & stress
- Improving creativity and free thinking
- Increasing positivity and happiness
- Cultivating compassion and kindness
In fact, studies have shown that meditation not only has emotional and psychological benefits, but also physical ones, as this great article on Forbes discusses. Meditation also doesn’t have to take hours a day (although building up the time you spend does have a greater benefit) and can be done in short sessions of 5-10 minutes per day within your current daily routine. Here are 5 Ways to meditate if you don’t think you have time.
I was joined by clients, colleagues, family, friends and other Facebook users – all keen to find out what meditation was about and to include it in their daily lives. Here’s what some of them had to say about the experience:
“Haven’t managed every day – but have greatly enjoyed being part of this group 🙂 sometimes being part of something together, is just enough push to keep you on track – because you need about 3 weeks for a repeated action to become a habit. I hope I have now developed a positive habit! thank you Holly” ~ JS
“Just wanted to say thank you to Holly for the last month. It’s been an amazing experience.” ~ AJ
“Thank you for the month Holly xx it was a great idea and has really helped me focus X” ~ CM
“Thank you for this past month. Because of family issues it has been a very stressful month but meditation has carried me through. I will continue with my daily practice.” ~ JR
So, this October, I’m doing it again and I hope you will join us too!
Once again it is absolutely free and has the same aims and rules. Joining the Facebook group just means you get the daily prompts and access to the weekly files and hopefully enough accountability and motivation to see you through the 31 days.
Are YOU up for a challenge that will have a positive impact on your own life?? Just click the image below or the link above to join us in the Facebook group – I’ll see you there!!
