Hello! Have you missed me??
Well, I’ve missed you all and writing my blog every week. My last post was way back in November and so much has happened since then but now I am back, all refreshed and all settled in my new home – YAY!! So, normal service will now resume…
I am sure that you are all over hearing and seeing everyone posting about their New Year Resolutions and the endless promotion of programmes to make you skinnier, happier, healthier or wealthier (or all four) for 2016 by now – it seems to be all my social media stream shows at the moment. I don’t tend to make resolutions once a year as each new day for me is a chance to start again and to be honest, I just don’t need the added pressure at an already busy time of year. And, we all know that hastily decided New Year ‘s Resolutions tend to fail too and if you want to know why, pop over to The World of Suzy Homemaker and read Sue’s timely post on the subject.
I’m just not taking part. Not this year. Not ever.
Instead, I revisit The Desire Map at this time of year and check whether my core desired feelings (CDFs) still match how I want to feel for the coming year. I also do this in May (for my birthday) and September (when the kids go back to school) so I am constantly repeating the process. It doesn’t take me long to go through the exercises and settle on my new words each time but just taking a day to do this valuable work guides my intentions for the next few months. I really enjoy discovering how I want to FEEL instead of simply what I want to ACHIEVE.

To be honest, my words have only morphed a little over the past few years rather than changing completely and as 2015 came to an end I realised that although AUTHENTIC, INSPIRED, ABUNDANT, CONNECTED & CHERISHED were all still as relevant as ever, FREE was a word I definitely had to add to my CDFs as a reminder that I am always free…
Free to be me
Free to choose my own path
Free to believe what I choose
Free to parent my children at my best
Free to have fun
And once I have my CDFs in place I can then set my intentions for the next few months. I say intentions rather than goals as it’s just how I work. Of course I have things that I want to achieve, but given that last year was a doozy, never to be repeated kind of year, this year my only intentions are to look after myself and my children (Free, Authentic & Cherished), really immerse myself in my businesses (Authentic, Inspired, Abundant, Connected & Free) and have some fun (Authentic, Connected & Free). Making my CDFs central to what I do every day means that these intentions will become reality – in fact they already are.

Why not give it a try this year too – and set your own intentions based on how you want to feel instead of setting goals by what you think will make you happy (or what you are told will make you happy).
